Graduate student researcher Herman Cheah was awarded Kansas Speech-Language Hearing Association (KSHA)'s Margaret Byrne-Sarricks Scholarship and Dixie Heinrich Servant Leadership Award to support the Mandarin-English bilingual preschool children's speech development project.

Undergraduate student researcher Megan Fors was awarded an Undergraduate Research Award (UGRA) to support the Learning sounds from native and non-native speech contexts project.

Fall 2024

Undergraduate student researcher Archisa Ghimire was awarded an Undergraduate Research Award (UGRA) to support the Cross-linguistic influence of signed and spoken language project. 

Dr. McDonald was awarded an American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation New Century Scholars Research Grant to support a new project using machine learning to make more accurate predictions about bilingual speech development. 

Spring 2024

Dr. McDonald was awarded a New Faculty Research Development Grant from KU to support the Korean-English bilingual speech development project.
